NBS Bank plc will be registering a profit in the current year compared to a loss in the prior year. The company accordingly advises that profit after tax for the half year ending June 30, 2018 is expected to be approximately 140% higher than the loss recorded during the previous corresponding period.

Standard Bank Limited (the Bank) accordingly advises that the forecast profit after tax for the period ending 30 June 2018 will be below the previous corresponding period by at least 40%.

NITL accordingly advises that the profit after tax for the 6 months ending 30 June 2018 is expected to be more than 35% higher than the previous period ended 30 June 2017.

NICO Holdings accordingly advises that profit after tax for the reporting period (half year) ending 30th June 2018 is expected to be higher than the previous corresponding period by more than 24%.

Old Mutual plc Shares were this morning suspended from the UK Official List and from trading on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed securities, and from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Namibian Stock Exchange and the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, and have already been suspended on the Malawi Stock Exchange.

Telekom Networks Malawi Plc accordingly advises that profit after tax for the half year ending 30 June 2018 is expected to be approximately 40% higher than the previous corresponding period.

Summary of unaudited results for the period ended 30 June 2017 for Press Corporation Plc

The Bank and its subsidiary, NBS Forex Bureau Limited, reported a loss before tax of MK1.9 billion for the six months ended 30 June 2017 ( June 2016: loss of MK1.34 billion) and net loss after tax of MK1.14 billion (June 2016: Net loss after tax of MK 1.38 billion).

During the period the Company’s equity portfolio grew by 14.1% (2016: 20.6% decrease) while the Malawi Domestic Share Index grew by 18.4% (2016:18.2% decrease). Dividend income increased by 46.8% (2016: 42.4% decrease) to K184 million from K125 million in prior period. The company had revaluation gains on its equity investments amounting to K880 million compared to a loss of K1 billion in the previous period. Overall the Company made a profit after tax of K1 billion (2016: K968 million loss after tax) largely due to share price gains of most investee companies.

Following the listing of FMBCH on the Malawi Stock Exchange, the Offer whereby FMBCH oers to the shareholders of FMB to acquire their shares in FMB
in exchange for shares in FMBCH - has become unconditional from the date of listing on 18 September 2017.
