The Malawi Stock Exchange joined the world to commemorate International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. International Women’s Day is a day where the world celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The celebration was held under the theme break the bias in cognizance of how bias, especially unconscious bias, makes it difficult for women to move ahead.

The celebration was held under the theme break the bias in cognizance of how bias, especially unconscious bias, makes it difficult for women to move ahead.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer for NBS Bank PLC, Ms. Temwani Simwaka graced the occasion as guest of honor. Ms. Simwaka gave a passionate speech aimed at igniting the participants to challenge the stereotypes that we have of women. “A strong woman is not a witch, a driven woman is not a difficult woman, a hardworking woman is not unfriendly…”. She also hailed NBS Bank PLC for its inclusion efforts which she believes go beyond fulfilling corporate social investment quotas.

The event was also occasioned by poster presentations by the MSE team highlighting the women that have impacted and inspired good values in them.
