MSE HOSTS BUSINESS JOURNALIST SEMINAR

The MSE conducted its annual Business Journalist Seminar on Wednesday, the 27th of July, 2022 under the theme, “Understanding stock market reports and corporate announcements”.

The MSE Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John Robson Kamanga, in his welcoming remarks stated that the event gives an opportunity to interact with the media, share knowledge and operations of the stock market, and acts as a source of feedback on the information that is needed by the public. The MSE publishes a number of trading activity reports including corpo-rate announcements, however these are not easily understood by most people. As such, the theme was selected to train the journalist to be able to understand and interpret stock market reports as they undertake their role of keeping the public informed. It was the 5th seminar to be conducted since this initiative was launched in 2018.

In her closing remarks, the representative of the participants, Mrs. Bernadette Chiwanda Mia from MIJ Radio, thanked the MSE for giving them the opportunity to learn more about the stock market. She indicated that business journalists are always willing to learn more so they can also disseminate this information to the general public.
Two presentations were made on the overview of the Malawi Stock Exchange and the stock market reports. Participants from various Media houses were in attendance and were all giv-en certificates of attendance.
