THE MALAWI STOCK EXCHANGE CONDUCTED A WORKSHOP ON ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND GOVERNANCE

The Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) hosted an extensive workshop on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) on 15 March, 2024. The workshop, conducted both physically and virtually, aimed to create and distribute ESG guidelines specifically tailored for listed companies.

Mrs Kelline Kondowe, Chief Operating Officer, Malawi Stock Exchange, initiated the event with opening remarks, followed by a presentation on " The evolution of ESG and why it matters " by Mr. Arnold Kweyani Mbwana, Chief Executive Officer of Bartlett Consulting Group Africa. Additionally, Mrs Kelline Kondowe, Chief Operating Officer, Malawi Stock Exchange, provided an overview of " Introduction to GRI standards," educating participants on globally recognized sustainability reporting frameworks.

The workshop included an interactive question and answer session, enabling direct engagement between attendees and presenters to enhance comprehension of ESG concepts. Mr. Madalitso Mittochi, Finance Manager and Company Secretary, concluded the session with closing remarks, summarizing key insights and expressing gratitude for active participation.
