MSE COMMEMORATES GLOBAL MONEY WEEK 2025

Global Money Week (GMW) 2025 was successfully celebrated across Malawi from 17 March to 21 March 2025 under the theme, “Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow.” The campaign focused on financial literacy and inclusion, bringing together financial institutions, regulators and educators to engage with students, youth and the public on key financial education topics.

The official launch took place on 17 March at Bangwe Community Day Secondary School (CDSS), organized by the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) in collaboration
with financial institutions. The event featured speeches, drama and poetry
performances by students, emphasizing the importance of savings, investment and responsible
money management among young people.

The Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) played a key role by hosting students from St Andrews International School and Malawi University of Science and
Technology (MUST) and visiting Chimwankhunda CDSS for interactive sessions on capital markets and investing in shares and bonds. St Andrews International School made a presentation on budgeting, while MUST and Chimwankhunda CDSS delivered poetry performances.

Educational materials such as brochures were distributed, while social media platforms were
leveraged for daily posts and an investor webinar to promote financial awareness.
The event saw increased participation from students and educators, highlighting a growing interest in financial literacy. Feedback indicated a strong demand for ongoing financial education programs. Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to equipping Malawian youth with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions, laying a solid foundation for future financial empowerment initiatives.
